2025 Recap: The Year of Adventure

If there’s one word that sums up 2025 for us, it’s adventure. This year surprised us, stretched us, and rewarded us in ways we never quite saw coming. From big changes on the water to meaningful shifts on land, 2025 will always stand out as a year that reshaped how we live, work, and play.

The biggest surprise of the year came early and completely unexpectedly: we sold our boat. What followed was even more unexpected—we found another one. And not just any boat. The Other Side is all new to us and a little bit bigger, and she already feels like home. We purchased a 43-foot Cruisers Yacht, and Andrew took on the adventure of captaining her back to Port Clinton, Ohio from Bay City, Michigan. Over the course of a few weekends, he navigated her all the way around the thumb of Michigan—a journey that tested skill, patience, and weather windows, and one that made us even more proud of what this lifestyle brings.

Once she was home, boating season was in full swing. We made numerous trips to Put-In-Bay, spent time enjoying Port Clinton, and even squeezed in a day trip to Kelleys Island with friends. Those easygoing days—sun on our faces, laughter on deck, and the simple joy of being together on the water—are exactly why we love this life so much.

Of course, 2025 wasn’t all sunsets and dock lines. February brought a major professional shift when Courtney left her position with Urology to work for the main hospital. While it was a big change, it ultimately opened the door to something even better. In October, the head of Urology reached back out, and after renegotiating, Courtney returned under a very favorable contract—including a four-day work week. This change will truly enhance our boat life and give us more time to enjoy the moments that matter most.

Andrew stayed busy all year as well, continuing to work with Jordan to expand services for the lawn and landscape company. The hard work paid off, especially with the move into a new shop, which has worked out incredibly well and positioned the business for continued growth.

The Park House saw a couple of great upgrades this year too, with the completion of the sunroom, and new wallpaper in the kitchen and front entry, the house is coming along beautifully!

October brought one of the most memorable trips of the year—a getaway to Nashville with our friends Jodi and Patrick. It’s hard to remember the last time we laughed so much or had that kind of nonstop fun. Between music, food, and great company, it was a trip we’ll be talking about for years.

As the year came to a close, we experienced a profound loss. In December, we said goodbye to Grandpa Bob Myers. He was an amazing man who deeply appreciated family and tradition, and who gave so much of himself to his community. From serving as a firefighter to leading as district governor for the local Lions Club, his legacy of service and dedication will live on. He will be so greatly missed.

Despite the sadness, the holidays were filled with joy, togetherness, and gratitude. We closed out 2025 reflecting on how much we’ve grown, how much we’ve changed, and how fortunate we are to live a life full of adventure, hard work, and love.

Here’s to 2026 and whatever it has in store—we’re ready.
